If you read Craig Barrett's posts, you know he's been working on organizing a 10K race in his community of Hughesville, Maryland. We know he loves running - his profile picture is from a race! And in at least three posts, Craig has invited his readers (including us) to participate, either by running or by sponsoring the race.
Now, I subscribe to Craig's blog, and I read each post and something registered but hey! I'm a candidate for knee replacement - I'm not running any 10K race.
Then this morning, my Blackberry started emitting Bach at high volume, and when I picked it up, Craig was on the other line asking me to participate. So after a few minutes' of personal arm twisting, it's on my calendar - though I won't be running! It's even for a couple of good causes - the Hughesville Fire Department and the Hughesville Baseball Association.
I'm hoping that some other bloggers will join us on September 6th. In addition to the race, there will be food, vendors and music. Sounds like fun, and maybe a great blog post! I'll be bringing my camera.
So, it's sort of the same way it works in real estate! When you put it out in your blog and web side, then when you follow up with something more personal, like a phone call, you have magic!

Good for you Pat to help out some worthy causes.
Hughesville? where the heck is that? I know I have heard of it. Sounds like a great thing to be part of. I am heading to the MAR Convention as I do each year so won't be around. Have fun.
Pat - It's hard to say no to a good cause! Hope you get others in your area to participate!
Pat, Craig gave me a call too yesterday and left a voice message. I was up in Baltimore all day for a bridal show with my wife so haven't had the chance to call him back yet. Sounds like a great event and kudos to you for helping out.
Craig cracks me up! This run is for such a good cause and Craig can run, believe me! Pat - it is great that you are participating - I will most certainly have to check out Craigs last blog again to see how I can help.
Hi Pat,
Craig is passionate about running. Glad to hear you can help him out. Golly, I do have a lot of respect for those that get out there in the heat and humidity and run.
Woohoo! Pat rocks! We're having a 5k a 10k and a festival afterwards. Walkers are welcome! I've got the route shutdown for 2 hours and the roads for the Festival shutdown from 8am until 3pm. Live music, food, artists, crafters, local businesses, moonbounce, face painting, and more!
The "cost" for the Festival is one canned good. We're giving the canned goods to Southern Maryland Food Bank. As you mentioned, the proceeds from the 10k and 5k benefit Hughesville Fire Department and Hughesville Baseball. It should be a good time and thanks for the mention and the blog!
I got Craig's cal as well. Let's get a party together and head out to meet up!
