To Those Of You Who Take The Ocean For Granted!

Ah!  The beach!  For a couple of weeks each year, I find sun and sand and ocean somewhere.  For a while, it was Barbados over Christmas.  For the past couple of years, I’ve been joining friends on Cape Cod during part of July and August.

It’s great to be able to get up early, walk onto the beach and let the breaking waves lap at my ankles.    Then there’s the smell of salt water and the noisy birds looking for their breakfast.

It’s interesting that I should be here in Chatham during a time when there is a lot of discussion about off-shore drilling.   And when I listen to the arguments for and against it, I understand only that there are no simple answers.

And I think that I should be more like my sister, Joan, and use my bicycle more and my car less.  It would be good for my health and good for this beautiful beach.

Pat, sounds like you are having a wonderful relaxing time on the beach.  Have you ever considered shutting your computer off for a few minutes?

I love the beach. And we have some of the best beaches right here in NJ!

Keep that computer on and send more photos of the beach.

I'll be on my bicycle, Pat!  I'll get one of those two or three seat tandem jobs so I can wheel around with my clients in tow.

Off shore drilling ain't the answer.  Imagine that photo with an oil rig off in the distance.  Yuck! Ptooey!

Pat, I like the sound of the ocean coming in and out. It is soothing to me. Being too landlocked where I live I don't experience it as much as the coastal folks. But I know people in Florida who live there 20 years and never go to the ocean cause the salt water is too icky. Very strange.

Pat - I love the ocean,  just sitting there listening to the waves, watching the birds, people etc while I bury my feet in the sand is something I enjoy doing.  That's a real surprise since I am an island girl.

Patricia, It sounds heavenly.  We have always been attracted to the beach.  We lived in North Carolina for a couple of years and they have incredible beaches.  I don't know if you have been to Galveston but they are not quite as incredible.  Oh well it is still the beach only a little over an hour away.

We love the beach and the ocean. Don't get out there as often as we like - thanks for sharing your vacation with us and the wonderful photos.

Pat- Those early morning beach walks are my favorite time of the day. Now those bicycles...well my knees are showing their age. Enjoy, it all ends way too soon

Funny I had a dream last night (I have it once in awhile) of body surfing in a wave... the beach looked a lot like your photo!

Brian, I'm not spending all that much time on the computer! And my Blackberry's signal is bad.

Jim, New Jersey does have some fabulous beaches!

Kenneth, there are plenty of beach photos where these came from!

Ken, as long as the clients help with the pedaling!  Tandem bikes are fun!

Gary, I love the salt water!  That's why God invented showers!

Tracy, it's great to have a major loaf time once in a while!

And Jennifer, I have to say, my favorite beaches are in Barbados on the Caribbean side!  Wow!

Marchel, the beaches on the Outer Banks are just lovely.

Debbie, growing up in the mid west makes me really appreciate the beaches on the coasts.

Martha, my knees are a total mess, and cycling is one of the few types of exercise I can do that doesn't mess them up.

Charles, that is indeed a good dream to have!

And Margaret, I am having a wonderful time!

Hi Pat...How are you able to take such wonderful pictures of the beach?  There appears to be very few folks out there.   Most of the beaches this time of the year are packed.

Glad you are having a relaxing time.

We need to get rid of our need for oil and use alternatives or we will have others controlling our economy.

Pat - I hear the ocean calling ... Oh to walk barefoot on that beach right about now ... what a treat that would be

I just came back from the beach and there is still sand between my toes; I hope you're enjoying some of the same.

Pat - Speaking of riding a bike...I hope you found the bike rentals there in Cape Cod. One of my favorite things to do there is biking the National Seashore. I usually have to do this to burn off all the calories from the intake of lobster and melted butter!

Can you really put a client on the back of your bike, I wrote a post about that. I'm not sure in our business if that is really possible. Open House signs don't even fit on a bike very well.

I lived on the Gulf coast of Florida for about 6 years and it would be a shame if drilling were permitted; especially if there was an accident. Most of Florida's economy is tourist driven with the beaches and a mouse being the biggest draws.
