Friday Fotos:  Stuck in Traffic by Pierce Mill

Blogging on ActiveRain is what DC beautcrats call "traffic calming"

On almost every ride home through Rock Creek Park, I come upon a traffic backup on Tilden Street NW, waiting for cars to make a left turn onto Beach Drive.  The light is short, and it seems that everyone wants to turn left.  And normally my Type-A hate- to-be- stuck in traffic alarm goes off.  But not anymore.  I reached over to the passenger seat and picked up my camera, secretly hoping that the light would not turn green too quickly.  And I got the shot of the old Pierce Mill.

No chace of road rage now!

Patricia - A great use of a situation you can not change. You are a born problem solver. Your clients are fortunate to have you represent them.

That's worth sitting in traffic to get a photo. Love that.

Patricia-I find it interesting how many of the old buildings have withstood the elements and time even though builders in the old days lacked the tools and techniques we find indispensable now.

Hi Pat, I love these old relics of our history. Glad you were able to get the shot. A nice drive home, I might add.

They built that out of rocks from a creek nearby.  Can't remember what it's called though...

Good morning Pat. Good move and nice picture. It looks like a home that would be warm and easy on the inside.

What a great picture and what a way to look at a traffic. Yesterday was an awful day for traffic here in NH as Bike week starts today with a hundred thousand or more visitors making their way here. The roads were a mess to say the least. I need to open eyes and see what i can see the next time stuck in traffic,

I'm sorry to hear about you getting stuck in traffic but we got the benefit of the photo, great shot! Enjoy your weekend Patricia!

Patricia,  What a cool old building. I guess as long as we are not using a camera phone we are safe from authorities who may ticket us using a cell phone while driving.  I know I use my camera for that reason ... there are not laws against using a camera.

You found a great way to eliminate road rage.

Very cool.  I have been in that postion too where I am trying to shoot a photo and the light changes.  What is all that water near the sidewalk. Looks like you had a gulley washer.

If one needs to be stuck in traffic, then the Old Pierce Mill seems a pretty good place for it to happen.  Very picturesque!

Pat I could put up with being stuck if this building was right there.  Love historical stone houses.

Thanks so much for your comments.  Being able to use traffic tie ups for photos sure beats anger management counseling for road rage.

Living in Los Angeles, I expected to see a lot of cars and annoyed/angry faces.

Instead, there is a lovely peaceful picture. I love it:)
