Pat Kennedy - Your Washington, DC Real Estate Connection

Now This Is How To Do A Broker's Open House!

Sue and Andy Hill, a local mother/son Realtor team with McEnearney Associates, scored a major real estate coup.  They listed a most impressive stone property at 4600 Linnean Avenue, NW, which also happens to be this year's Washington, DC Design House.  The list price is $3,850,000.

Each year, the DC Design House group picks a beautiful house and brings in a bunch of local interior design professionals to work their magic.  The re-designed house is then open to the public for several weeks, and the admission fees are donated to Children's Hospital, and the show home's owners usually put it on the market.

Like most of the Design Housess, this one is pretty special.  It has a lot that is over half an acre - huge by DC standards.  It has over 5000 square feet above grade and a swimming pool where you can get relief from the humid DC summers.

Andy and Sue are smart enough to know that there are challenges around showing buyers and agents the Design House, so they made the best of things.  Between 4 and 6 this afternoon, they held a brokers open, giving their colleagues a chance to see this lovely home without standing in long lines to get inside.  Oh, and it was free, although I feel like I need to send a check to Children's Hospital.

They couldn't make it a wine and cheese thing, because there in no food allowed.  But they didn't have to feed us.  The house was delicious, and it won't make one fat!

If you'd like more information on this beautiful home, contact me and I'll be glad to pass it on.

Patricia,  Very creative.  I would not want food and wine served in that deliciously remodeled new home.

What an amazing home.  I am sure the open house will lead to finding a buyer who will appreciate this gem.

Hi Pat, The Dream Houses really do such a great job in recognizing and celebrating design and architecture. The added bonus of raising money for charity really makes it all the more special. Any interior Photos?

Love the house. What a treat to see at your Broker Open, food or not. Bet it doesn't sit on the market for very long

Sounds like an amazing property, and very nice to tour for the brokers open.  Love that they donate proceeds of tours to charity, that's a great touch

I love broker's opens.  In fact, broker's opens are on my schedule almost every week.  Tuesday is the day here and that includes new home models and resales.

The idea, of course, is getting as many "eyes" in the house as possible.  One thing for sure with that house, it won't be forgotten.

Sounds like the right way to do a broker open house.  Most folks don't do them around here.

That looks and sounds like a great broker's open and a wonderful house.  Yeah, I don't think it's going to last for long.

Pat, I caught the design house on the news and it was one of my favorites so far. The pool looked so relaxing. Sounds like a great brokers open!

This is a beautiful home and an ideal property for an open house. If you buy this one, it would be a great location for ActiveRain MeetUps.

Wow!  I just turned on the computer and found all of your comments!  Sue and Andy are doing a great job of marketing this impressive home, and it's so much fun to see agents being creative with a fabulous listing.

Good morning Pat. I have enjoyed brokers open houses for the home and for the food but also for the camaraderie of being and seeing colleagues. "This house was delicious." Love it.

Wow Patricia, wouldn't it be fantastic if we could do that with all our listings. I have several in the past that this type of attention would've done wonders for selling..
