What's For Sale in Crestwood - DC: December 2013

When I bought my Crestwood home many years ago, I'd been searching west of Rock Creek Park.  Then my chamber music group played a wedding at a beautiful home in Crestwood, and then I found myself previewing homes here for a buyer.

Well, one of the places I found was perfect, if not for my buyer, for me!  Dream House was much bigger than anything I'd seen across the park, and I bought it.  And since then, I've sold many homes to buyers who, like me, started their searches in Woodley or Cleveland Park, Chevy Chase or American University Park.

Today, if you're searching for a great house close to downtown, Crestwood might check off a lot of the boxes on your wants and needs list.  And unlike many other neighborhoods in the city, Crestwood has inventory.

Currently, there are 14 homes for sale in Crestwood.  The prices range from a low of $450,000 for a house that someone will probably buy for the lot and bulldoze, to a high of $1,790,000 for a newly constructed home that's been on the market for a while.

The Crestwood architecture is pretty diverse.  There are row houses in the block west of 16th, and as you go west toward Rock Creek Park, the homes become larger.  There are colonials, mid-century modern homes, and a few interesting contemporaries.

If you are considering a move to or from the Washington, DC metropolitan area, I can help.  I'm licensed in DC, Maryland and Virginia.   After 30-plus years of helping people find great homes in the area, I know the territory.  So before you make any real estate decisions, give me a call (202-549-5167) or email me at

Patricia: It's great to sell in neighborhoods that you believe in and, as in your case, you have lived in yourself for a long time. Sounds like the perfect distance to D.C. too.

You demonstrate over and over how well you know your local market, Crestwood and beyond. Cool historic photo!

This is turning into a sort of champagne taste beer budget neighborhood, and there are far fewer bidding wars than you get in some other close-in neighborhoods.
