Upper Northwest Buyers Might Consider Expanding Their Search to DC's Crestwood

Back in the day when I was looking for my first DC home, I stumbled quite accidentally on Crestwood.  Considering I had been looking entirely west of Rock Creek Park, this neighborhood was off the old beaten path. 

Crestwood is three miles north of the White House, bordered on the east by 16th Street and surround on the other three sides by Rock Creek Park

It's architecture is diverse, with Wardman-style row houses off 16th, and detached homes of al of DC's major styles - colonials, tudors, wood frames and even a scattering of mid-century modern homes.  The prices are diverse as well, ranging from the $849,000 to $1,595,000.  Click here to see the homes that are on the market as of today.

If you are looking at single family homes west of the Park at under $1million, you would find a very tight market, with only 25 homes for sale right now.  Typically, these homes go under contract with multiple offers within a week of being listed.  Crestwood has 4, and while these properties sell quickly, often with multiple offers, it's not the kind of crazed feeding frenzy you'll encounter in American University Park or Foxhall Village for similarly priced homes.

Patricia, You definitely know your DC real estate market. You offer buyers who are challenged in a hot sellers’ market some options they may not have thought about.
