Zoo Lights at the National Zoo!

The National Zoo's lions, elephants and bears never looked like this!  On November 23rd , you can go to the zoo after dark, and see the creatures there in a whole new, um, light!

This annual event, known as Zoo Lights, is held in conjunction with Pepco (our much maligned electric company).  It a chance to see  the zoo will be lit up with millions of lights that look pretty real!

What a great way to walk off some of the excess calories from your Thanksgiving dinner!

The zoo will stay open until 9:00 pm for this festive event, which will run through the end of the year.

Looks like a cool light show. But ironic who the host is. No doubt they are getting a good bit of the admissions proceeds.

Patricia-That is one way to get people out to the zoo. I've heard the National Zoo is one of the best in the country. That looks like a nice attraction.

I didn't know the zoo did this!  There are lots of light displays out here in the burbs, but none so theme specific as this!

Good morning Patricia - That sounds like so much fun. I think it's worth it to take the trip to DC to see this!

Those are pretty cool Patricia.  I'm sure kids love to visit the national zoo during this time!

Absolutely beautiful.  I wonder what the animals think of them?

I am sure the animals are thinking...Who left all the lights on...as they drift off to bed

What a great event. Great photos of it, too. They do that at the Portland Zoo, too, and after living here for over five years, we still haven't been. We're determined to make it this year!

This is a great fund raiser for the zoo and we have the same event at our zoo.  Bundle up, drink some hot cocoa and see the Zoo Lights at the National Zoo!

I love this. What a fun time for kids and adults alike.  And maybe even the animals will appreciate it.

Jeff, the host is Friends of the National Zoo, and Pepco is apparently donating the lights.  They've gotten beaten up a whole lot over the past year or so for bad handling of blackouts.  Maybe this will help them fight the State of Maryland's efforts to fire them and get a new electrical power company!

Wayne, it is a really great zoo.  They work hard to keep the animals happy.

Jay, maybe you and the Mrs. could come up and we could do a double date!

Wayne and Jean Marie, let us know when you're coming!

Hey, Christiansen Team!  Kids of all ages love this.

Chris and Dick, the animals probably are having their sleep cycles messed with.

very cool....for people in AR involved with their zoos...good thing to show them for next year and increase revenue during a slow season.

Patricia, That looks cool and fun. The closest zoo to me is in Seattle. I may have to visit the National zoo next time I am in DC.
