Class Reunion!

I have six weeks to lose fifty pounds and get a major face lift.  Yes, it's coming up.

It's not just a class reunion, it's a "0" year class reunion.

So sweetie and I are planning a "Two for the Road" thing - not in my comfortable Lexus with a giant trunk and lots of room and a navigation system, but in his adorable little 2-seater with a trunk barely large enough to hold two little bitty suitcases. Well, his car does get better mileage.

We're planning our route, trying to avoid aiming the car down I-70, which leads right from here to Topeka.  Yes, Topeka, Kansas.  The town I ran away from to New York City, where I began my big life adventure.

I graduated from Topeka High School, a member of an amazing class of kids.

Like there was about a seven-way tie for class valedictorian, which included most of the cheerleaders and the co-captains of the football and basketball team.   There were a lot of great kids who grew into great adults.

We have a web site where we're posting photos and videos.  And those of us who have real estate licenses seem to be putting up the most stuff.  Could it be that Realtors® have a leg up on this stuff?

Meanwhile, I found an old photo of me in my band uniform.  Yes, I was a band geek, the piccolo virtuoso who played the Stars and Stripes Forever obbligato with the marching band at half time at all of the football games.

Tomorrow morning, I'm hitting the gym.  I am really vain.  I need to lose a bunch.  Maybe I need a trainer.

Wait.  I need a real estate trainer!  Is it better to show up thin or rich?

Patricia,

I love to go back to my old school. There is nothing like a reunion. Last year, my school celebrated it's 50th year of existence, with teachers, principals and schoool workers showing up. Who says you can't go home again. Have a great time

Pat

Yikes. That's a scary thought, in a number of ways.

Never did the class reunion thing abnd no intentions of starting. Enjoy, though - I'm rooting for you on all counts!

Pat,,,

This year would have been my 40th, but I haven't seen the gang since June of 1971. Wow, can iyt possibly be that long?

Pat just go the way you are and have fun.  I helped to organize my 35th reunion last year.  We spent 2 years planning it and it was so worth it.  We did the website also and we have kept it active and old classmates are still joining.

I have reconnected with many people from the past and have even had 4 real estate deals that have come from the reunion.

We now regularly have pub nights for those who still live in the area.  You will have a blast.

Pat --- did Aristotle  Onassis say --- you can never be too rich, too thin or too tan?   Hmm, maybe it was George Hamilton.  So go, have fun, be yourself and be FABULOUS!

Oh I need to lose some weight, too.  At least you have a good incentive.  Remember...all you guys are the same age...so I'm sure you'e not alone.  Cool abt the piccolo.

It's better to simply show up, no matter what!

So proud of you for showing up.  You will be successful, funny, kind....who needs thin?!  Besides when you go back you will discover thin is relative, or at least it was at my reunion.  I love that your class has a website going.  Great idea for others planning a great reunion.

Rich, thin and tan?  The rich part maybe!  But today it's pretty clear that you can be too thin and too tan.  Neither of those things are a problem for me, however!  And it's going to be pure fun.

Class Reunions are fun and somewhat scary at the same time.  Hoping that there's way more of the fun part in this one for you!  Have a wonderful time. :)

Pat, I vote for rich......anyone can forgive a fat rich person.  But, a thin, poor one only gets the pity.  Have fun!!!

Class reunion? God, I couldn't WAIT to get OUT of high school and away from everyone there - by my senior year most of my friends were already in college -I never did the reunion thing and can't even imagine seeing those people again - besides, a large portion are probably already dead - it will be a 50 year reunion if they do it in 2016 - that IS a long time!!!!

Hope you have fun, take plenty of photos to share and WHY do you want to drop pounds unless it is for health? You look fantastic just as you are! Remember, I have met you a couple of times and it isn't photos I am relating to! You don't need to drop an ounce Pat!

the gym will make you sore and the trainer may make you throw up dont do it PAT

oh and its true you look thinner with a tan but  if you get a spray tan  then dont forget to bleach your teeth too people will be looking at your tan and bright teeth  LOL  Somehow I think you will be more sophisticated than the Topeka crowd...not to knock KS because my Father grew up near there and went to Williamsburg High School, I have relatives all over Topeka that was the old Milliken family homestead, just visited there in May :)

Have fun that will be some roadtrip and those Kansas farmers will be eyeing that fancy little car

Pat, if you can just sell "the big one" now, you still have time to get sucked and tucked! Forget the tan though... you can always have that sprayed on....

Patricia- You can do it!!! My husband's father lived in Topeka and "running away" is an apt description!  We'll head to Lawrence, KS for college football in the fall!

I have a personal trainer now and though I'm losing weight, I'm not sure if I went to a reunion that I would be able to dance. Ever muscle hurts!
