Crestwood - DC: Urban Deer

One of my favorite things about Crestwood is that Rock Creek Park surrounds us on three sides.  And this proximity to the park means that we have occassional visitors who like to dine on azaeleas and other fine leaves.

So here we have Bambi's daddy in the back yard of a house just off Blagden Avenue.  And you can sort of see where he has ripped off some leaves from this shrub.

This makes me want to reach out and touch this fellow's antlers.

Pat,  Beautiful photo.  It looks like he could step right out of the computer screen.  Have a wonderful week.

Wow!  I had to look closely to make sure this deer was real!!  I am amazed how close up the photo is!

Looks like he's having an azalea sandwich, and isn't about to run off.

Hi Pat, He is just so cute! I wish we had deer in my area. Too built up for that. Great photo!

Great photo Pat.  They roam my backyard all the time, but I've never gotten one up close like that.

This is a big guy... Very formidable. Nnot sure if touching the  antlers would be the best idea, though

What a beautiful picture.  They are so almost just want to give them a hug.  but, somehow, I don't think they'll be as soft as my cats.

I imagine that just like out here in the burbs, you are over run with deer.

Pat - He seems very comfortable as an urban deer--what a cosmopolitan guy!

Great photo- you can almost reach out and touch the antlers- He is awfully close to the house, isn't he! These guys can wreck havoc on our yards. Good idea to find a landscaper who knows which ones the deer like for "food" and which ones will likely remain in the garden. Have a great one!

What an amazing photograph, Pat... I would swear that head gear was fake, lol.  We have a couple of herds that roam our woods and keep our Dalmatians on their toes!

Hi Pat, Well, this photo is only fabulous. What a little treasure. Being up close and personal even with wild animals just does something to the soul and at the very least it makes us feel connected to "Mom" as in mother nature, :-). What beauty.

I came back to finish this comment  and want to say what a pleasure it was to talk to you on the phone. I can't wait to meet you one day in person. Next time in DC and we have do lunch. Or you could fly out to our neck of the woods and we could do lunch while watching the waves crash against the shoreline. I am sure I could round up Jeff Dowler and we could have a wonderful coastal picnic lunch experience.
