Wordless Wednesday: May Flowers

Look what our April showers brought!  During April, we have a city full of blossoming trees, and by the time the blossoms are spent or blown away, we get the azaleas.  It's like the capital has put on a bit of lipstick!  They are all over town, and some otherwise ordinary houses look totally amazing for the next couple of weeks.

Don't the flower shots on Active Rain beat all of those snow photos we were all posting a couple of months ago?

Wow! Those flowers are beautiful! We are having so little rain, the flower season has been very short in TX.

Patricia, those flowers ARE beautiful! :)  I'm sure you are enjoying the lack of snow!

Pat - these are spectacular, and I'm enjoying the greenery here (although we have it year round back in CA there is a different look here with all the spring trees and blooming bushes). Hope we can get together before I leave Sunday!

Pat:  I have my fondest memories of living in DC during Spring.  Everything is so beautiful in bloom...that, yes, even the least attractive structures look like they're dressed for a gala ball.

Very lovely, the vision of springtime!  Yesterday was the first day I noticed our flowering trees in bloom.  Probably because it's the first day I noticed that the sun was actually shining!

As I was looking at your photo, I thought to myself how much better May looks than February.  But we'll see those lovely snow pictures soon enough, and the first couple feet of snow will be beautiful, the last couple not so much!

Pat - wow, do you have a lot of beautiful colors going on in your town. Our azaleas haven't bloomed, but when they do, they are a mass of color!

Pat, some azaleas have come & gone but i hope to take pictures of the famous Kinney azalea gardens in RI which is acres of azaleas & the origin of many unusual ones as they developed them...their owners now have passed but a conservancy operates a beautiful place..thanks for sharing

Those are some beautiful azaleas. I do love that hot pink color, both on the bushes and in lipstick!

Hi Pat, it's wonderful to see the flowers blooming! Much better than snow in my book! We had a long winter this year.

Azaleas are some of my favorite things about Spring in the DC area.  It's hard to stay cranky when it's so beautiful everywhere.
