So Just What Is A "Cape Cod" House?

OK, the MLS category called "Cape Cod" is usually filled with cute little brick houses with two dormer windows on the second floor.  Well, for the last week and a day on Cape Cod, I've been in search of that house.  And it isn't here.

First, I've yet to see a brick house!  They are almost all constructed out of shake shingles, sort of like this -

And it took a very long walk to find one in Chatham that had the cute little dormers -

These are typical of the Cape Cod cottage, though not necessarily the typical Cape Cod house.  There is some amazing history around here, and some amazing new additions to the local architecture.  And I'm off to snap some of these WOW houses after I go to the beach!

 But bottom line, no bricks.

Since I live in a "cape cod" this naturally caught my eye.  I hope you take and post lots of cape cod photos.  These two are adorable.

Being from the south, I've always wondered the same. Now (I think) you've clarified for me....

Maybe the MLS took their definition from one of the Real Estate licensing exams....they have definitions of homes I have yet to see...........anyway, with or without the cute little dormers, I like your houses.
