Speechless Sunday - April In Paris

I took this a year ago today on an amazing spring day in front of  L'Opera in Paris.  Today, as I was listening to the news, I thought about how great it would have been if the Icelandic volcano had erupted in time to strand me there!  Of course, the sky would not have been this clear.  But I wouldn't have cared.  It was Paris!

Pat, It is good that it was a year ago as you would be kicking your heels back in the US trying to get a flight if it was this year.  I have a friend that is supposed to be going to Italy but her flight went through Germany and she is stuck around the Dulles Airport.

Hi Pat - Beautiful!  I have never been to France, but I still hope that I will someday.  I have been thinking about the people stranded there and all over the area, and those stranded here who can't get home to Europe.  I guess the best thing to do would be to treat it as an adventure and enjoy it!

We would love to be in Paris in the spring.  Maybe next year :)

Patricia:

I am a little jealous that you were there a year ago, and got such a nice memory! I could really use a long trip right now, although I might not come back!

Hi Pat... has it been a year already???  Seems like yesterday to me that we were reading your Paris updates!

You are so lucky to be in Paris this time of the year. Maybe next year for me as well...

Great picture.  I have some girlfriends who are stranded there right now due to the ash cloud.  Poor things!

That is such a beautiful shot, Pat!  I am always impressed with the statues and monuments overseas - simply awe-inspiring!

WOw! What gilded beauty against that blue blue sky, it really portrays the glory and optimism of spring. Glad you captured the moment.

This is a beautiful subject.  I've never been, but I have a friend that goes all the time and loves everything about the city.

I'm hoping to go back in the fall before it gets cold.  My broker has a gorgeous apartment where we stayed and oh my!

Pat - I remember your exploits in romanctic Paris last year. Guess it would be hard to shake for any mortal.

Happy to see the memories. Cheers!

Pat:  Has it been a year already?  Time certainly does fly. That volcano is really something else.  I haven't seen more than a clip or two hear or there, but it looks massive with that ash cloud it's leaving.

Pat, Wow, a day in Paris, how can you top that...with another day in Paris, and another day in Paris, and another day... just like you said. I bet that was a wonderful trip!

Sounds ideal.....BUT the stranded tourist is being abused due to this earthly mess. Hotel rooms that were $100 per night last week are now $500+ per night!

You can strand me in Paris any day.  They really did clean the Opera up beautifully.

That is spectacular! And I'm jealous too =(  Is that real gold? I'm assuming it is... so my next question would be, how long has that been standing?

Pat, we actually were stranded in Paris a few years ago on our way back from Athens! Free night in a hotel and we arranged for our own private tour bus and guide for a tour around the city until our 5pm flight. It was great and I highly recommend dragging your feet when connecting in Paris! lol (We actually ran/walked but still missed the plane. The flight from Athens was late.)
