It's amazing how simple things become a whole new challenge in a foreign country!
At the top of today's to-do list (yes, I am so type-A that I have one on vacation) was to get a Metro pass, and the second thing was to get my I-phone to work. The Metro pass was easy, although my French presented a huge challenge to the poor lady selling Metro tickets. And the I-phone thing was a nightmare, and it was good that I had my Metro pass, because I wound up riding all over the city to find a French phone company office that could help. They let me use one of their phones to call AT&T's international number and it was finally fixed. The whole time, I was thinking of the commercials with the guys in Amsterdam who are not getting their phone calls because they don't have ...
Well, you get the picture.
But on my trip around town, I did manage to see some beautiful churches, amazing red bud trees, the fabulous homes along the Seine, the Luxembourg Gardens, and a bunch of other stuff.
My friend, Annie, is here from DC, and we had dinner at this adorable diner, where her huge Obama wrist watch was a huge hit with the wait staff. Our President apparnetly made a huge hit during his visit here.
