Paris Journal - Day Two

It's amazing how simple things become a whole new challenge in a foreign country!

At the top of today's to-do list (yes, I am so type-A that I have one on vacation) was to get a Metro pass, and the second thing was to get my I-phone to work.  The Metro pass was easy, although my French presented a huge challenge to the poor lady selling Metro tickets.  And the I-phone thing was a nightmare, and it was good that I had my Metro pass, because I wound up riding all over the city to find a French phone company office that could help.  They let me use one of their phones to call AT&T's international number and it was finally fixed.  The whole time, I was thinking of the commercials with the guys in Amsterdam who are not getting their phone calls because they don't have ...

Well, you get the picture.

But on my trip around town, I did manage to see some beautiful churches, amazing red bud trees, the fabulous homes along the Seine, the Luxembourg Gardens, and a bunch of other stuff.

My friend, Annie, is here from DC, and we had dinner at this adorable diner, where her huge Obama wrist watch was a huge hit with the wait staff.  Our President apparnetly made a huge hit during his visit here.

My favorite cities in the world.  Love the people....the architecture....but hate the prices.  I learned alot from Parisians, as they work to live rather than live to work.  Great pics........

Thanks for sharing the photos, Pat.  You're so lucky to be in Paris.  I plan on going one of these days.  I would love to see the City of Lights.  More photos, please.

I prefer reading your journal rather than keeping mine.  Paris trumps LA any day.

AH Paris in springtime.  The last time I was there I was exhausted from having just spent 6 days on a bike touring the Loire Valley.  Need to go back and enjoy the city.

You see hhow many people are jealous. Beautiful photos. Now, that you got  your IPhone work, you can relax.

Interestingly, they like our President, and 15 of April was not that reassuring for him here, Can we send him to France as a gift? They send us the Statute of Liberrty, and we did not give anything back to them (LOL)

Hi Pat... I love the pics and I love the Obama wristwatch story too!  It's nice to see our friends around the world feeling good about our country's leadership for a change.  When did it become more desirable, in American's minds, for Europeans to hate us and when did people come to believe that this hatred would help advance our foreign policy in the community of nations?
