Those Other Cherry Blossoms

When people think of Washington, DC and cherry blossoms, it's usually the beautiful blooms around the Tidal Basin that come to mind.  But just north of District line, there is a neighborhood in Chevy Chase called Kenwood, and its cherry trees are truly stunning.

When the community was laid out in 1927, the developers planted the trees even before they built the beautiful homes in the neighborhood. And I wonder if they had any idea how gorgeous they would become!

To see these blossoms, drive out River Road, turning into Kenwood right after the Whole Foods and before the Kenwood Country Club.  And my guess is they'll only last another few days!

Oh, and of course, I took this one with my new IPad 3 camera.  It was at about 6:30, and the sun was doing some interesting stuff to the leaves and blossoms.
